Erb / Baker / Rosaly
The first note sounds and it’s off: The three instrumentalists make their way through their music with open senses. It is more their punky attitude than the art of instant composition which drives them on. Carefreeness and intensity are at work, the music swells and flourishes in constant transformation – form and flow at once. After a stint at an atelier in Chicago, Lucerne saxophonist Christoph Erb found an inspiring basis in the improv scene there. He returned many times for recordings and tours, launched projects and has published over a dozen Chicago CDs on his label Veto Records. Erb first played with Jim Baker (Fred Anderson, Ken Vandermark) and Frank Rosaly (The Young Mothers, Matana Roberts, Fred Lonberg-Holm) at Umbrella Festival in Chicago in 2013. The fresh spirit of this performance can also be heard on the two CDs which appeared last year. The trio will now be opening the festival in order to transform the grace of the moment into a new auditory adventure.
