Judy Birdland

In early 2020, Christa Unternährer – aka Judy Birdland – formed a new band. The music seems lighter than the sound universe of the first albums.
With Hans Feigenwinter on the piano and keyboards, Manuel Sidler on the electric guitar, Christophe Muheim on the bass and Adrian Stirnimann on the drums, she has found fellow musicians who inspire her and breathe soul into her new compositions.
In a mixture of earthy soundscapes and spherical music, jazz, folk and blues elements meet pop music. Brazilian influences can also be detected. It all sounds like a wild mix. Influenced by these styles, an idiosyncratic sound takes shape: “Pulsating drums, a driving bass, two guitars – one singing spherically and expressively, the other dimly plucked – as well as the colourful patterns and pearly sounds on the keyboard support the singer’s expressive voice and contribute in equal measure to this sound experience tinged with nostalgia.”
